Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On Thursday 2nd July through to Sunday 5th July 2020,we are challenging our community to travel the total distance from Kent College Canterbury to the North Pole, approximately 2676 miles (around 9 miles/15 km per participant), without even leaving their neighbourhood. All modes of transport that involve a concerted effort will be absolutely fine, such as walking, running, cycling, horse-riding, in your garden or your local area or park, to clock up the miles over the day so that we can add up a grand total of distance travelled!

We will be raising money for Farms for City Children, a wonderful charity which enables city children to go on a residential working stay on a farm. Children’s author Michael Morpurgo, and his wife Clare founded Farms for City Children at Nethercott House in Devon in 1976. The charity offers urban children from all over the country a unique opportunity to live and work together for a week at a time on a real farm in the heart of the countryside. The last few months have been very challenging for the organisation.

About the charity

Founded in 1976 by children's writer Michael Morpurgo and wife Clare. A weeks stay on one of our working farms aims to develop potential, build self-esteem and enrich the lives of 3,200 children from inner cities, and towns annually. Many are disadvantaged and some have special educational needs.
