The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

We are Wayne and Danielle, an ordinary married couple turned adventure seekers and life lovers. This summer, for our latest adventure, we are hiking 700 miles! Setting off on 24th June 2014, we will be hiking the Pennine Way and Coast to Coast trails across England, before flying to the USA to cross California's Sierra Nevada hiking the John Muir Trail.

700 miles will not be easily accomplished. We recognise this will be a huge challenge for us, but nowhere near the battle that people face when diagnosed with cancer. So we have decided to complete our long distance hike in aid of a charity close to our hearts, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Over the last few years, having witnessed the devastating effects of cancer on family and friends and the invaluable work that Macmillan nurses do to ease the suffering and pain that our loved ones have had to endure, we decided we'd like to help by raising some money for this fantastic charity.

We are not asking for anything big. We are funding the entire trip ourselves. As we are hiking 700 miles, we would like to ask people to take the time to donate just 'a penny a mile'. That works out at £7 in total!

We are currently training for our mammoth hike by walking 10 miles every other day. You can follow us on our journey and see how we get on with hiking each trail by looking at our blog www.treksnappy.com where we'll map our route, post lots of photos and give regular updates of our progress.

Cancer will affect one in three people. No one should have to face this terrible disease alone, so please support the amazing work and dedication of the Macmillan nurses by making a donation. You never know, you may be the one needing their help someday.

Gift Aid it! If you're a UK taxpayer, please remember to tick the Gift Aid box as this will increase your donation by at least 25% at no cost to you.
