On the 12th of May, I will be joining thousands of cyclists in the 100 mile Birmingham and Midland Velo, my third 100 mile cycle ride. It will be a hard day starting at 7.25 a.m. I completed my first long training ride of 60 miles a few days ago, a little later than anticipated for various reasons, and even longer rides will follow in the remaining weeks.

As you will all know, my son Robert died on the 26th of January having suffered for many years from mental health problems and alcohol addiction. I am dedicating the ride to Robert's memory, and hoping to  raise funds for the Addaction charity, which gives aid and support to those who are suffering from these problems or are caring for someone who is.

Any help you can give by making a donation to Addaction would be greatly appreciated.
