Comrades Ultra Marathon · 3 June 2012

We support The Rifles & its antecedent regiments, including via The Rifles Benevolent Trust, charity No: 1119071, which incorporates Care for Casualties & the Always a Rifleman Programme. Together the Trusts support all serving Riflemen & veterans, with the AARP meeting mental health needs.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Comrades Ultra Marathon on June 3rd, it is a 56 mile / 89km race from Pietermaritzburg to Durban, South Africa and it owes its beginning to the vision of one man, World War Veteran Vic Clapham. See the web site for more information www.comrades.com

Why do I want to raise money for The Rifles Regiment's charity "care for casualties" ? Because I am Detachment Commander at Banbury  Oxfordshire ( The Riflles) Battalion Army Cadet Force, and I want to raise as much money as I can for our Soldiers, since 2007 59 Riflemen have been killed and 300 have serious injuries with 29 loosing limbs. Care for Casualties is an appeal that gives the severely wounded, their families and the families of our fallen Riflemen the support, the inspiration and the means to rebuild their lives and make the best of their futures.

In the words of one supporter, "It’s not just the soldiers who serve, it’s their families too and we owe it to them to look after them all."
