In memory of Alan Tanner

We are dedicated to improving the quality of life and chances of survival for young cancer patients aged 13-24. We fund and build specialist units in NHS hospitals and provide dedicated staff, bringing young people together so they can be treated by teenage cancer experts in the best place for them.

Story

Most people who know me will be aware I do a bit of running. You'll also be aware that last sentence is understating the fact slightly! I don't tend to do a lot for sponsorship these days, but I'm going to now, and here's why:

My late, great colleague Alan Tanner was diagnosed with cancer, and sadly passed away earlier this year. He expressed his sadness at the number of young people he saw afflicted with cancer, and receiving treatment at the same time he received his.

In Alan's memory, I will therefore join a team of colleagues taking part in the Richmond Summer Riverside 10K on 25th July to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Rather than ask people to sponsor me for the one event though, I'd like to dedicate my 2015 race schedule to Alan, and to raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. That schedule looks like this:-

I've already run:

The Brighton Half Marathon, The Hastings Half Marathon, The Larmer Tree Marathon, The Brighton Marathon, The London Marathon, The Brighton Barefoot 5K, The Ox Half Marathon, The Liverpool Half Marathon, The Dorset Invader Half Marathon, The Richmond Summer Riverside 10K, The Sturminster Newton Half Marathon, The Reigate Half Marathon.

I'll be running later this year:

The Bournemouth Half Marathon, The Lisbon Marathon, The Beachy Head Marathon (6 days after Lisbon - yikes!) and the Enigma Strikes Back marathon.

That's the confirmed list, there are two or three more events I may yet add once I'm able to sign up! If anyone could spare any amount to sponsor me for that lot, I would be hugely grateful, and a great cause would benefit. Thanks to everyone who's reading this, I know I've waffled on a bit!

Thank you kindly,

Tristan.
