Ikano Bank Robin Hood Half Marathon 2019 · 29 September 2019 ·

StreetDoctors trains young people affected by violence how to be lifesavers, including what to do if someone is bleeding or knocked out. Our movement of young healthcare volunteers empower 11-25 year olds across the UK to make more informed decisions & become StreetDoctors in their communities.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the Nottingham Robin Hood Half Marathon on the 29th September for Street Doctors, a charity close to my heart. I am a trained volunteer for street doctors, and feel extremely passionate about the charity's work.

Violence is the third leading cause of death in young people. Some of these deaths happen because the people present do not know what to do; they panic and don’t call for help. StreetDoctors sessions give young people the vital skills and confidence to act when someone is bleeding or unconscious. Teaching these young people to call 999 and effectively deliver simple first aid can and does save lives.

In this current climate with knife crime on the rise and budgets for youth programmes and social support being cut, Street Doctors aim to teach important lessons to those who may have not started out on the best path.

I would be so grateful for any contributions you can make, big or small! Thank you, Triveni xx
