River Tyne; Source to Sea by Kayak · 30 March 2019

For over 33 years, Calvert Kielder, located in the beautiful Kielder Water & Forest Park, has been providing challenging and adventurous outdoor activities for over 6000 disabled children and adults together with their family, friends and carers. Thank you for your continued support.

Story

On the weekend of 30/31 March members of Tyne Valley Canoe Club will attempt to paddle the length of the River North Tyne from it's source at Kielder Dam to the sea at Tynemouth to raise money for the Calvert Trust at Kielder. Calvert Kielder provide outdoor activities for disabled adults and children.

The journey will be a real test of endurance with a total distance of approximately 66 miles. The first day (33 miles) from Kielder to Corbridge is the most technically demanding including the class 3 Warden gorge, the second day from Corbridge to Tynemouth will pass through the centre of Newcastle. Permission for the trip has been obtained from Port of Tyne.

Please help us support Calvert Kielder to provide rewarding experiences in the outdoors to disabled people.
