U399's FFG will be completing a 100km Dash to raise as much money as possible for the Shannon Bradshaw Trust. The aim is to cover a distance of 100km from the 1st March - 31st March in any way possible - running, skipping, hopping or even taking part in a 3 legged race!
In February 2002, doctors at Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool, diagnosed Shannon Bradshaw as having a life threatening condition Aplastic Anaemia, after being told a bone marrow transplant was her only hope of a cure, but with no suitable donor on the register, her aunt Jackie organized Blood donor clinics throughout the North West. Unfortunately, by the time a perfect match was found Shannon was too ill to have the life-saving operation, and sadly, on the 17th July 2002, just 5 months after her first diagnosis, Shannon lost her very brave battle.
Since 2002, the Shannon Bradshaw Trust has been raising money through fundraising events which have helped many sick children and their families throughout the North West. Some of these activities supported organisations like the Aplastic Anaemia Trust, the Anthony Nolan Trust and have generally promoted the importance of becoming a blood donor. They are local to U399 and your donation is helping them to build and modernize two children's playground, so please dig deep in your pockets to help this fantastic cause!
