Story
This year Rupert Williams, Founder and Executive Chairman at UK Parking Control, will be taking on the Ironman Vitoria-Gasteiz in July 2022. He is doing this intense and challenging triathlon to raise £10,000 for Dreamflight.
Dreamflight is a registered UK charity that takes children with a serious illness or disability on their holiday of a lifetime to Orlando. Since 1987, over 6,000 children have experienced their ‘holiday of a lifetime’. Parents are not allowed on the trip, but instead a huge volunteer team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and other helpers look after the children for 10 days. It is not just a holiday, the trip gives the children the opportunity to discover independence, confidence, and a whole new outlook on life. Often for the first time, they realise that they are not the odd one out. They gain perspective and experience things that they never thought possible.
For the last two years, Dreamflight has not gone ahead due to the Covid-19 pandemic but the outlook for 2022 is positive with Dreamflight currently planning the annual October trip!

Rupert has raised money for Dreamflight for many years taking on different challenges and sporting events. This year he takes on the Ironman Vitoria-Gasteiz. All Ironman triathlons are widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world. This intense challenge consists of three parts:
- Part 1 - The single-loop 3.8 km (2.4 mile) swim takes place in beautiful Ulibarri-Gamboa lake, located in the Landa Provincial Park outside Vitoria-Gasteiz.
- Part 2 - The three-loop 180.2 km (112 mile) bike course truly showcases the beauty of the region of Vitoria-Gasteiz and takes athletes through the most scenic towns of the Álava region and even shares a section with the "Camino de Santiago".
- Part 3 - The four-loop 42.2 km run course is a flat course along the wonderful Salburua Park. The finish line is located on the right next to Fernando Buesa Arena area.
