24 Hour Cycle for Maggie's Centres · 12 November 2015

Maggie’s Centres are warm and welcoming places built alongside NHS hospitals that provide the support that people with cancer and their family and friends need. www.maggiescentres.org

Story

On the morning of Thursday the 12th, the University of Manchester Cycling Club will begin pedalling to help raise money for Maggie's centres across the country. We will be sat outside the Student Union on our bikes from 9 in the morning and after over 100,000 pedal strokes and 300 miles each we will have hopefully reached our target of £1000 raised.

Maggie's are a much needed charity as sadly the practical, emotional and social support is often not afforded to those who need it the most. Maggie's have centres nationwide that help cancer sufferers and their families with everything from hair loss advice to dealing with bereavement. At the moment, Maggie's have 15 centres in the UK, with another 8 with plans underway, including two in Greater Manchester at The Christie and Oldham.

You'll be able to see us pedalling away outside the SU all day and night so come have a chat, try our POWER challenge on a stationary bike for a chance to win some Nandos vouchers (courtesy of our sponsors Homes 4 U), and most importantly, donate to a very worthwhile cause.
