Story
Sanctions, blockades and conflict are condemning families in Gaza to a life of despair, deprivation and hardship. The infrastructure is in ruins, food is scarce, water is contaminated and there is no opportunity to earn. Nearly half of the population lives under extreme poverty.
Massive unemployment in Gaza is taking a toll like never before. Farmers cannot work as farms close to the border areas are subject to continued unprovoked aggression. Fishing areas have meanwhile been reduced to just 3 nautical miles off the Gaza coast.
The ongoing strangulation means that of the 1.5 million who live in Gaza, around 80% are dependent on humanitarian aid.
'Allah helps His servant so long as His servant helps his brother...'
(Sahih Muslim)
Ummah Welfare Trust has been working in Gaza since 2004. Alhamdulillah, the charity has spent millions of pounds here since delivering emergency programmes, providing medical aid, supporting widows and orphans, establishing Masajids and delivering seasonal programmes.
