Volunteer from UWT is doing a 10K sponsored walk on Sunday 8th August 2010 in aid of the Pakistan Emergency Flood Appeal. Please donate generosuly inshaAllah such that we can reach our £500 target to provide 10 emergency packs to those afflicted by the floods. Details below.
**Pakistan Emergency Flood Appeal**

Pakistan has been hit by its worst floods since 1929.
- Three days of torrential rain has caused rivers to burst their banks causing widespread destruction to houses, schools, roads and railway tracks.
- Over 1500 dead and 3 million displaced and in need of emergency relief (UN).
- 19,000 people had been rescued by soldiers by Saturday night, but thousands still remain stranded. (BBC News)
- A number of major and minor bridges have been completely destroyed. (BBC News)
- UWT-Pakistan is already in the affected area helping the needy with emergency relief packs.
- UWT needs to raise an initial £2 million for the operation.
- Lillah, Sadaqah and Zakat donations can be used towards this project.
UWT is therefore calling upon our valued donors to help us raise £2 million towards emergency packs for the people affected by these floods.
Each Pack (£50) will provide a family with:
- -Blankets
- -Water Purifying Tablets
- -Medication
- -Food Supplies
