In October 2007 we will be attempting to complete a triathlon to raise funds for Hope and Homes for Children.

It’s no easy challenge - 400m swim followed by a gruelling 20km cycle and a 5km run. Especially as many of you know we hate all these events with a passion. However the real challenge is to try and raise as much money as possible for Hope and Homes for Children.

Hope and Homes for Children aims to give hope to the poorest children in the world – those who are orphaned, abandoned or vulnerable - by enabling them to grow up within the love of a family and the security of a home, so that they can fulfil their potential.

Their work varies from country to country depending on the need but the focus is on keeping families together, supporting young mothers who may otherwise abandon their babies and providing a vital lifeline for grandparent and child headed households affected by HIV/AIDS.

This year the money we raise by taking part in this triathlon will support children in Sierra Leone who have been affected by the brutal decade of civil war. The war officially ended in 2002, leaving tens of thousands dead and more than two million people displaced. The estimations of the number of children left orphaned or abandoned as a result of the war vary from 15,000 to 40,000.

Hope and Homes for Children has been working in Sierra Leone since 1995 and with our support they can help many more young mothers, street children and vulnerable families who have been affected by the conflict.

Now, after getting this far through my letter we know you are asking yourself “how can I help?”  Well, we really need the support of my friends and colleagues to reach our £5,000 target (SJP will Double this) and make a real difference to the lives of individual children, and indeed the future of the  country as a whole.

If you would like to offer your support, by sponsorship or any other way, we would be immensely grateful.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.  If you would like any further information on Hope and Homes for Children please feel free to call me at any time alternatively please visit the website www.hopeandhomes.org.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.

Amy, Adam, Rory and Alisdair (Under Duress).
