On 27th July 2013, United by our Difference, 4 intrepid individuals will attempt to walk 100Km (62 miles) across the South Downs Way in under 30 hours with The Royal Gurkha Rifles, to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.  Our mission is to help Oxfam raise money to provide essential services, food and water in a world where thousands of men, women and especially children die everyday from hunger and neglect. 

 

The United by Our Difference team consists of walkers Minh Phan, Tim Allen, Nuno Madeira and Barry Sage with Mirka Sage (with Tobey and Julia), Andrew Grave and Marcus Foreman providing critical support (an essential organisation).

 

What is the Trailwalker? 

The Queen's Gurkha Signals Regiment (QGS) in Hong Kong first started Trailwalker more than 30 years ago as a training exercise to test soldiers’ stamina and teamwork skills. In 2002 Trailwalker UK was opened up to the public via a partnership with Oxfam and has since grown into a major fundraising event for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust (GWT). The course record for the 100Km challenge stands at a staggering 9 hours and 50 minutes! (By a team from the Gurkha Rifles).

UK 3 Peaks Challenge = 3407 meters

Total Distance

UK Trailwalker = 62.12 miles

London Marathon = 26.2 miles
