Story

Hello Lovely People, this year UoP Sailing and UoP Squash are co - running an Arctic Dunk and Dip for Portsmouth and Southsea Lifeguards. No matter where you are in the world if you are near the coast then get your swim costumes on (not your wetsuits) and head down to your local organised Boxing Day Dip , however if you are nowhere near the coast then you can still join in by taking an Ice Bucket Dip. We are encouraging everyone to bring family and friends along and get as many people, and just giving pages, involved as possible. They are an independent charity and they provide a beach patrol service from May - September along Southsea seafront. They’re all volunteers and they receive no government funding so rely on the kind donations from the general public. Along with the beach patrol, they provide first aid and carry out rescue missions when needed. They work closely with HM Coastguard and other independent lifeboats to provide the best possible service. They also work with the local community and members of the public to provide safety information and advice. Training takes place all year round to ensure our lifeguards are kept up to date with the latest legislation and guidance. they are a fun group of people from various walks of life and they are always on the lookout to recruit more members
