When the sun goes down the working day ends for millions of people without electricity. At the flick of a switch, lives can be instantly changed with a solar light. SolarAid wants to make real, sustainable change happen.

Story

SolarAid is tackling poverty and climate change by building a sustainable market for solar lights in Africa. With a solar light, everything changes. These little lamps are safe, clean and affordable. They improve health, save money and allow children to study after dark.Together, we can create a world where no one is left in the dark.

We have chosen this charity because burning kerosene is terrible, while it is needed for light it is hugely polluting and expensive for those who need that light to live normal lives.

A £5 donation can give 1 solar light, this helps roughly 5 people gain access to clean light energy and saves those using it £159. It also averts 1.1 tonnes worth of CO2 being emitted over it's lifetime.

A £10 donation can give 2 solar lights, this helps roughly 11 people gain access to clean light energy and saves those using it £319. It also averts 2.1 tonnes worth of CO2 being emitted over it's lifetime.

A £50 donation can give 12 solar lights, this helps roughly 65 people gain access to clean light energy and saves those using it £1911. It also averts 12.7 tonnes worth of CO2 being emitted over it's lifetime.

Fuck kerosene.

So join in today and we can help people gain access to clean light energy, while also lessening our impact on the environment to boot!
