Two years ago my whole life changed. A tragic boat accident took away a third of my beloved family, my darling husband Nicko and beautiful 8 year old daughter Emily. It also took the lower part of my left leg. This last loss has always been so far down my list of losses that I haven't really thought much about being an amputee, I was too full of grief for Nicko and Emily. Now I want to prove to them and to everyone else that losing my leg is not going to stop me doing anything. I want them to look down from heaven and be so proud of what I can achieve and know that I will be OK.  
I am running this for Emily who was such a spirited gorgeous little thing, but will never have the chance to do anything like this, I love you darling, you will be with me every step of the way.
I have no idea if I can run 10k on my blade but I think we all need to give things ago and not be afraid of failure, my friends may well be carrying me around!
