Story
Hello
I'm taking part in the Leeds Memory Walk 2018 on 22/09/2018 to raise money for Alzheimer's Society and I'd really appreciate your support. I'm going to be raising money in memory of Amina BIRADER.
The reason for my doing this memory walk is to raise funds for Dementia UK which are a charity very close to my heart. They helped us with so many hurdles we were faced with, when one day out of the blue I had taken up the responsibility of taking care and looking after a very close relative who was diagnosed with onset Pixey dementia & Alzheimer’s. My mother in law who was also my dad's sister, later on as the years passed became very childlike. Who then I saw and loved to become “My Child”. That is how she needed care and looking after. This disease is absolutely awful, I can tell you for I have experienced the symptoms and the results of this cruel disease first hand. It debilitates you out of everything, it strips you of your whole Human existence, your dignity, your emotions, your memories, your ability to cope or mange with the everyday activities, which we take so much for granted in our everyday lives. She became so dependent on others that she was not even able to take a sip of water anytime she would have wanted. The reason today I ask you to donate with generosity is because we need to find ways of attacking this horrendous disease so nobody has to ever face these kinds of circumstances in One's life.
Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day we find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.
