Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In March 2012, just before his second birthday, my youngest grandson, James, was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome (WS), which is a rare genetic disorder. James has many of the characteristics of WS, including difficulty in sleeping, problems with eating ,learning difficulties, a very friendly and sociable personality, a love of all things musical, no fear of strangers, and hyper sensitivity to certain noises.
Thankfully, most of the medical tests on James, have so far been positive, but I am hoping to raise the general awareness by running for the WS Foundation in order to increase their funds that enables James and other children with the same condition to receive help and support.
The WS Foundation is the main UK charity for people with this condition, and is run by parents for parents. All funds go directly to help research, welfare and support, and any donation, however small, will make a difference, and is greatly appreciated.
As I enter my 70th year, it is my intention to run a total of 4 x half marathons and 3 x 10k races which total approximately 70 miles.
