Story

Last year shortly after giving birth to my third child I started to have problems after eating which includes stomach pains, intense nausea and urgency to go to the toilet. I have gone from 13 to now 8 stone in 8 months. I have had so many trips to the gp and hospital, having an gastroscopy and colonoscopy to be finally diagnosed with lymphocytic colitis - a form of microscopic colitis and IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease). I am now on steroids, budesonide, & antisickness and now trialing another medication Cholestyramine but I still struggle with this on a daily basis as you have to discover on your own what food and drink causes inflammation which leads me to not want to eat at all and whilst I am in a flare I find it incredibly difficult to look after my 3 children. I have been waiting for a GI specialist for a long time and due to the NHS waiting times I don’t expect to be seen anytime soon. It has all taken such a toll on my mental health which I also now have to take medication for. This has changed my life but I’m hopeful to find some relief in the future.

I want to raise awareness for microscopic colitis as it’s not discussed and known about as much as crohns and ulcerative colitis. I want to be able to do my bit and raise money to help find a cures for IBD.
