Story
In August, I’ll be heading off to Tanzania. I’ll be
attempting to climb (though many people assure me it’s simply a steep walk) to
the peak (5,895m) of Mount Kilimanjaro. Whilst a walk in the park for some, I’m
under no illusions that I will find the climb / altitude a little tough – so
what better motivation than raising a little money for charity. So, I thought
now was an appropriate time to kick off a bit of fundraising!
Route:
We’ve decided on a customised version of the Lemosho route (this will initially
start from the North Western side of peak, finally approaching the peak from
the North). We’re hoping you’ll be able to “Track our Climb”, but will send
across details across closer to the time.
Charity of choice:
Solace Women’s Aid (http://www.solacewomensaid.org/)
Solace are a London based charity focused on supporting women and children
affected by domestic abuse, through providing key services such as refuge and
counselling.
Fundraising:
I’ll be self-funding the climb and all related expenses, so every penny donated
will be going to the charity. Additionally, Macquarie Group Foundation (where I
work) will generously be matching the funds raised.
Thanks in advance,
Vanisha
