Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

What is the 1000km challenge- a series of endurance events covering a distance of 1000km to raise funds to help communities with vital infrastructure from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

IMPORTANT NOTE - All event costs (fees, accommodation and travel) are personally funded (by the trustees or by Varun and Pankeel). ALL donations go towards the amazing causes and projects (unlike majority of mainstream charities!)

Other events are available as back ups if injury means we cannot complete an event. All will be tracked on Strava!

The Events

Event 1 - March 2022 - Rome Marathon (Varun)  and London Marathon (Pankeel) (26.2 miles/42.2km). Marathon through the historical city of Rome, passing the Colosseum, St Peter’s Basilica and many more famous sites.

Event 2 - May 2022 – Ride London- (100 miles/160km). Bike ride which this year takes a new route through the Essex countryside and finishes on Tower Bridge, London. This is the London Marathon of cycling!

Event 3 - September 2022 – Richmond Duathlon (10km run, 44km bike and a 5km run) through Richmond Park - the largest Duathlon in the world!

Event 4 - The BIG finale……October 2023 – Cycle Portugal – cycle the length of Portugal from Chavez to Faro, covering a distance of 739km over 6 days. This classic journey follows the fabled N2, Portugal’s answer to Route 66, for over 700km from historic Chavez in the north to Faro in the sunny south.

The Charity

Polio Children's mission is to provide nutritional, educational, healthcare, and vocational training support to children with polio or other neuromuscular disorders and for those children who come from
economically disadvantaged backgrounds, with the singular goal of making them independent and productive citizens. It also aims to advance education of the public in polio and other
neuro-muscular diseases.

Funds to be raised to enable children from poor and marginalised communities to live a more empowered life. These projects focus on breaking the cycle of poverty by addressing all aspects of the lives of individuals and the development of communities.
