Story

Hello all.

For all those friends who've recently suffered from cancer, and in memory of good friends lost, a number of Free Press regulars embarked on a cycle ride from Cambridge to Paris to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

All the riders paid for their own trip expenses, so all donated money goes to Cancer Research UK.

Departure date for Paris was 7am on 3rd June 2012 and we arrived in Paris on 7 June, wet, tired but all just about in one piece!

Thanks to my employer, Cognidox, for funding my part in this endeavour.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

For anyone who doesn't want to donate electronically, you can complete the Cancer Research UK donation form and send it through to me - I'll add your amount onto the team total.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Well, we've made it - massive thanks to everyone who's donated. Here are some pictures of the final day: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150851155330998.393370.690555997&type=1&l=49c5627385

Less than a week to go, and we've finished off heavy training now (80 miles yesterday). Now we're in the strange position of wanting the sun to go in over a bank-holiday weekend, so we don't get burnt to a crisp on the ride!

We made it into the local paper http://www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Health-and-Beauty/Mens-Health/Heres-to-Free-Press-400-mile-challenge-16052012.htm - they got the number of riders wrong, but you should get the gist of things

Many thanks to everyone who's donated - target achieved and broken - Superb! Training is coming along, and I've only managed to fall off the bike once so far - clip-in pedals are tricky if you forget you're wearing them!

14/05/12 19:04

Many thanks to all who have donated so far - the total's looking great.
