Alps hike 2021 for CMV Action · 26 August 2021

CMV Action is a UK organisation of parents and volunteers, who have come together to support families, to raise public awareness of congenital CMV, and campaign for better prevention measures within our health service. We offer advice, support and friendship to anyone affected by congenital CMV, advocating for families and working with a number of medical professionals who have an interest in this field.

Story

Over the past few months I have looked after some wonderful kids, one of whom is lovely Elodie, who was born with congenital CMV. CMV can have a devastating impact on newborn babies and Elodie was born deaf as a result of the virus. She is an amazing and brave girl and I am in awe of the positivity and determination that she and her family have shown. I am doing the hike to raise as much money as possible for the wonderful charity CMV action, who at present are the only UK charity offering support to families affected by congenital CMV. Research and work towards a vaccine continue to be underway, yet the virus is not widely known about, and so the work of CMV action in promoting awareness and providing support is more important than ever.

I’d be so grateful for even the smallest of donations towards this amazing and hugely important charity!! For Elodie <3 x
