During Share your Christmas, I remember arriving at the Silver Spurs Arena at 4:30am to help set up a mobile drop that would begin distributing food at 7:30am. It was an early morning and I was immediately hit with a view of over 100 cars already waiting in line for their chance to bring home a meal to their families. I spoke to the first gentleman in line who had arrived at 11:30pm the night before to sleep in his car in order to ensure he and his family would have a week’s worth of groceries. He was a husband, father and grandfather that was bringing food home to his wife, son and grandchildren. Food is a necessity that no one should have to worry about receiving. I feel immense pride working and advocating for Second Harvest Food Bank because not only do they provide meals, but also hope for a better day
