We educate, empower and represent women to access their legal rights in Tanzania

Story

So guys, my birthday is coming up, and I guess it’s what you’d consider a fairly “big” birthday. Now, while I actually embrace and appreciate getting older, I’ve never liked the fanfare of birthdays. I actually go to great efforts to hide my birthday, but this year I’m doing something different.

As some of you might know, I’m currently working in Tanzania with an amazing NGO called Inherit Your Rights. In Tanzania, many women and girls, particularly widows are denied rights when it comes to property and inheritance. At Inherit Your Rights, we provide legal training and support to give women a voice so they can advocate for their rights.

So, this year I’m actually going to tell people about my birthday – and more importantly, the inspiring women we are working with that you can help support. If you are feeling generous, I would be so grateful for a donation to Inherit Your Rights to help educate and empower women who are far too often denied of their legal rights.

And to top this all off, I’m also climbing Kilimanjaro in October in the name of Inherit Your Rights and using this as a opportunity to fundraise for women’s rights in Tanzania. Your support will help me take the cause of women’s legal rights to the roof of Africa!

Your donation will directly provide legal education and support to women in Tanzania. We're doing some amazing things like training community members to become paralegals, providing legal aid and teaching self-defense classes - and I'll be sharing the stories of the women your support is impacting straight from the field.

Asante sana. Nakupenda.

About the charity

Initially founded in 2011 to aid widows who risked  losing their property and inheritance after the death of their husbands, Inherit Your Rights now also works with women and girls as a whole to provide training and support concerning their legal rights. By educating, empowering and representing women and girls in the Arusha region of Tanzania on property and inheritance rights, as well as basic human rights we can stop the cycle on injustice and build an equal and more just society.
