Preda and I will be walking for Dogs Trust on Sunday, 18th October with Bella, a lurcher, and her trusty friends, Inky, Wispa and Digby, who have considerably shorter legs. We're going to try and walk the full 6 miles, but Bella has a chronic condition (Myasthenia Gravis), and sometimes tires easily, even though she is only three. Bella came from Dogs Trust, Newbury, when she was a year old. Since then, she has been an ambassador for Dogs Trust, manning the stand each year at Chiswick House Dog Show. Inky has done her bit for Dogs Trust; agreeing to be the sausage in the Sausage and Chip van, which has been promoting microchipping for all dogs.Wispa and Digby are keen to help Dogs Trust by asking you to support us in our walk, and help other dogs who are not as fortunate as they.
Dogs Trust cared for over 16,000 dogs in 2008, and found new homes for over 14,000. They have 17 rehoming centres around the UK, and NEVER put a healthy dog down. Some dogs who have been so badly treated by humans that they will never be comfortable in a home live in a dedicated Sanctuary, and there is also a special home for very elderly dogs to live out their days in comfort. For the rest, a dedicated team works tirelessly to find the right loving home for every dog.
Food bills have risen by 25% in the last year, so please dig deep and support us all, four and two legged, as we walk for Dogs Trust. Find out more from their website: www.dogstrust.org.uk
