Vicki's Marathon Page - Footsteps 4 Oliver

London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Wow..... well those of you who know me will have often heard me mutter "I am NEVER going to run a marathon!" but somehow in a moment of madness back in May I entered the ballot with the thought that no one ever gets in....... well, i beat the odds and got into the ballot on my first ever entry (much to the amusement of my running buddies!)
So as is always my way, if I'm doing this, then I'm doing it properly! I never do anything halfheartedly! I will absolutely be giving this my all but I'm not gonna lie, its gonna be really hard! I'm my own worst enemy so talking myself round will be just as hard as the physical pain! Training to run 26.2 miles (and believe me those .2 are not to be sniffed at!) as a working mum is gonna be tough. My day off is now my run day and my lie ins at the weekend are now going to be filled with early alarms and lots of miles!
And if I'm going to do this, I'm going to try and help the most amazing little guy..... Oliver Osborne. Oliver is in Owen's year at school and they go to Beavers together..... oh and he has Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy. He has had numerous surgeries in America and from being told he would never walk, he has battled on and is now just walking with single sticks! What a hero! He is doing amazingly but this takes persistence and constant physio sessions which cost money! Oliver has the most supportive family and they deserve all the help they can get to help him to do something that we all take for granted every day.
Every step I take round London Oliver, I dedicate to you. I will train as hard as you and we will do this together <3
