The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

My husband was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in sept 2017, it had spread to his lymph nodes and then to his bones before we even knew he had cancer. Sadly it’s incurable, this has been an extremely devastating time for us and our 3 children and of course our family and friends. Since being diagnosed the care we have received within the jigsaw unit at Bournemouth hospital has been amazing and the nurses introduced us to Macmillan. The support that Macmillan offer to families, couples and the individuals is just mind blowing they really make this horrendous time just that little bit easier. They offer counselling not only to the person with cancer but also the partners and children. They offer financial advice and support, advice on almost everything you need to know to help make dealing and coping with this horrible illness less daunting and stressful.

So I saw this event was running in June and I wanted to set myself a challenge along with friends and family. To give something back. We will be walking a marathon along the Juarassic Coast, a very tough challenge with lots of huge hills!

I thought if I could put myself through some pain and suffering like Alan endures daily at the moment I would feel like I’m doing something to help him as well.

Please please do what you can to help ‘Team Astburys’ raise as much money for Macmillan that we can, however big or small every donation is so special to us. You never know when you may need to call upon Macmillan to help you or a loved one.
