Fundraising for Asylum Link
Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A little bit short notice (as usual) but i'll be running the Santa Dash in Liverpool on the 1st December. Anyone who knows me knows that I am in NO WAY a runner and i'm currently sat in bed with a chest infection so can't wait to see how this pans out!
However on a serious note i'm running for a charity that are absolutely crucial to the Merseyside area and are a beacon of light for refugees who arrive to the UK often alone. Asylum Link is an organisation dedicated to assisting Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Liverpool and to raising public awareness around refugee issues.
I recently heard a member of asylum link speak about the refugee crisis and was left in tears, firstly because of the stories of the amazing people who have been failed by the harsh, unjust system but also by the great work that charities like asylum link do everyday. Not only are they instrumental in providing help with cases related problems they also provide english classes as well as breakfast and lunch.
One thing that stood out to me was how important Asylum link are in providing social support for asylum seekers and helping them to integrate into Liverpool and the community. They are a friendly face for those who have experienced things that we could not begin to imagine.
While Asylum link are undoubtedly amazing and provide a necessary service they receive no government funding!
Merseyside is an amazing place built on kindness and generosity so please give anything you can!
If this isn't compelling enough i'll even post some photos of me post run looking like i've been dug up and feeling like a fool for overestimating my fitness levels!
