Story
After the monsoon-like conditions at the RideLondon-Surrey 100 in 2014 put us off sportives for a while, Chris and I decided to chance our arms entering the ballot for the 2016 event. Unfortunately, we were both successful. *Gulp*
So on the 31 July we'll be taking to the streets of London and the hills of Surrey - hopefully to do the full 100 miles this time. Pray for dry weather please!
I am once again fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, the incredible charity I am proud to work for, so please give as generously as you can.
What the CF?
- Cystic fibrosis affects 10,500 people in the UK. Five babies are born every week with CF.
- 1 in 25 people carry the faulty gene that causes CF.
- People with CF take an average of 60 tablets, spend around 4 hours on physio, airway clearance and nebuliser treatment EVERY, SINGLE DAY. And that's when they're well.
- Only half of those currently living with the condition will live to see their 40th birthday. Two people die from CF every week.
- 1 in 3 people with CF on the lung transplant list will die waiting.
- People with CF can't meet each other in person, as they risk passing on dangerous bugs to each other (these bugs are not dangerous to people who don't have CF, btw, so don't go avoiding people with CF. Cos they rock.)
- The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a life unlimited, for everyone born with the condition.
Find out more at cysticfibrosis.org.uk, or ask me 'What the CF?' next time you see me - I'll buy you a pint and tell you all about it.
Thanks in advance for your generosity!
