Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page. In a moment of madness i signed up to take part in a 60km walk over the South Downs. I'm hoping to raise as much money as i can for a charity called Combat Stress. I have strong links with the military, having served myself, still have family serving and have lots of friends who have served either in the Army or RAF.  Please read the info below about what this charity offers to ex-service men & women and how important these services are to many. Combat Stress is the leading charity specialising in the care of British Veterans who have been profoundly traumatised by harrowing experiences during their service careers. Since 2005 the charity Combat Stress has seen a 72% increase in demand for their specialist services caring for Veterans' mental health. Combat Stress delivers dedicated treatment and support to Ex-Service men & women with conditions such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression & anxiety disorders. Their services are free of charge to the Veteran. The Enemy Within Appeal (hoping to raise £30 million) aims to : Make sure that Veterans and their families are never far from help.  They will do this by: - Establishing 14 community outreach teams nationwide - Enhancing clinical treatment at their 3 short stay residential centres - Raising awareness of the plight of Veterans with mental health injuries. - Encouraging Veterans 7 their families to seek help earlier: it currently takes 14 years from service discharge Combat Stress provides a dedicated service for Veterans whose mental health condition is often complex and long term.  This service is NOT routinely available in the NHS or elsewhere.  It would be very much appreciated if you could sponsor me & if anyone could guarantee good weather for the day that would also be appreciated!! :o) Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
