Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Most of you are aware I work with people who have head and neck cancer, everyday I meet remarkable people who have life changing treatments. A big part of my job is supporting people who have had their voice box (larynx) removed- I urge you for just a moment to consider life without the spontaneity of speech, or never again speaking ‘normally’ being lost in a crowd or the moment passing you buy because the time you have raised your finger to aid your speech some one else has spoken over you, to have difficulties with eating and drinking and being life long tied to medical services for support- it’s hugely underestimated how these things (and many more) impact on someone’s life. NALC give vital support for these people and are struggling with funding. The resources they produce support our patients and are invaluable therefore instead of sending me or anyone else a Christmas card please give something, anything to this cause so it can continue. It also reduces the waste caused by cards and envelopes and I strongly believe we need to do all we can to look after our planet.

I am aware this won’t raise huge amounts of money but I wanted to help anyway I could. I appreciate there are lots of these pages these days but this is something I’ve very passionate about.

Thank you 😘

About the charity

The association was formed in 1976 with the objective to promote the welfare and rehabilitation of laryngectomy patients and their families. To be of assistance to those professionals working in the field of laryngectomy. NALC collects and disseminates relevant information and has an education programme which includes seminars for both patients and professionals. The association offers various services including counselling and a help and referral service. NALC has an extensive range of literature and DVD’s. We support relevant studies and clinical trials in their application for funding. Our members contribute by reviewing patient leaflets and joining steering committees.
