Story
Over 30,000 people in the UK suffer a cardiac arrest outside hospitals, in homes and communities. Of these less than 1 in 10 victims survive to be discharged from hospital.
I am teaming up with North West Ambulance Service and my gym The Strength Factory Westhoughton to raise money for a community based, accessible defibrillator which will be placed on the outside of the gym building.
Access to a defibrillator can provide life saving treatment before emergency services arrive on scene and increase the chances of survival.
On the 9 June I will be doing Ironman Staffordshire 70.3 a long distance triathlon (1.2mile open water swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1mile run) to raise money to purchase the defibrillator which costs £1,200. If you can help me help save lives of local people in Westhoughton I would be grateful.
Thank you
Vicky
