Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, please take a few minutes (may be 5) to read my story and make a donation.
I will be joining a group of fundraisers on 6 February 2016 to depart London and start our journey to Vietnam (we are flying the first leg!). We are going to be cycling 500km from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to Angkor Wat in Cambodia, a total of 8 days cycling of varying distances from 30km up to 95km a day.
I am doing this to fundraise and raise awareness for Parkinson’s UK. My dad was told he had Parkinson’s in May 2008 and since then his life has been changed because of IT. Despite everything, my dad’s spirits have always remained high and I think he is truly amazing.
My mum has been an absolute star in caring for and giving dad the support he needs, alongwith the support and love from all his family and friends. The support and treatment he gets from his specialist and the team at Lincoln Hospital has been first class and always on the end of a phone! In addition to the collective support and friendship that has been built over the years at the Sleaford Parkinson’s Group and Parkinson’s nurses.
Not everyone is this fortunate and I hope that with your support we can make a difference whether that’s funding research, support or simply being able to take a call on the helpline. I would do anything to be able to cure Parkinson’s for my dad and others, and it means so much to me that I will have my head shaved in order to raise those important donations! I can only remember my hair being long and for those who know me well my hair is my crown, especially on a night out! So, yes I am really going to have my head shaved on 29th January 2016.
I would be sooooo grateful if you could make a donation to Parkinson’s UK, all of the money raised will go directly to them and Parkinson’s UK will put the money to where it is most needed. This could be:
· £450 would fund Parkinson’s UK Brain Bank for half a day helping researchers around the world in the hunt for a cure.
· £1500 would fund a life changing home adaptation for someone living with Parkinson’s through their Mali Jenkins Fund.
· £2500 would allow Parkinson’s UK to provide a nursing service for those with no local support for two weeks.
Every hour someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s! Please donate now and be part of helping to make a difference.
Thank you and all good wishes, Victoria xx
