Story

2 years since we should have gone to Peru for this challenge  we are finally getting to go (thanks Covid!!). Lewis and I have paid for the trip to Peru ourselves, so any money raised will be going straight to Chestnut Tree House. We would love to raise enough to pay for a day in memory of both our girls.

2020 was the year that Lewis turned 40. It was also the year that our eldest daughter would have been 10, and marks 10 years since she died. 10 years since Chestnut Tree House came in to our lives and saved us. To mark these momentous events, Lewis and I will be hiking the Inca Trail in Peru to raise money for the Children's hospice, to raise awareness for them and of course in memory of our 2 daughters. Here's our story...

In 2010 our 1st daughter, Heidi Alice, was born. Just 5 weeks later she fell ill and following a horrific week in hospital we spent 24 hours at the Chestnut Tree house children's hospice in West Sussex where our beautiful died in her sleep laying between mummy and daddy in their bed.

3 years later we found ourselves at the hospice again with our 3rd daughter Eloise Rae. History had repeated itself with the arrival of our bundle of perfection when she was 5 weeks old we were admitted to hospital. The symptoms were the same as Heidi and we were aware very quickly that we would lose Eloise too. We made the decision very quickly to take her to Chestnut Tree House and as a result we had over 3 weeks with Eloise in the comfort, love and security of the house.

We could write pages and pages about how incredible Chestnut Tree House is. Being there with Eloise gave us the opportunity to live as a family, including our 2 year old daughter Amelie, who came to visit every day. Instead of horrific memories of such a sad time, we were given every chance and opportunity to create some final and lasting memories.

Without such a place I'm not sure what we would have done. The care we received during our time there still continues now. It is purely through charity that Chestnut Tree House exists and can continue to provide a sanctuary to families like ours.

We will be taking part in a number of fundraising events leading up to the Inca Trail event and we want raise as much money as possible for the hospice that wouldn't exist without the amazing donations of the public. Please dig deep into your pockets and help us give the hospice something back, in memory of our 2 beautiful daughters. Thank you xxx
