Well I finally made it across the Pond and across the line in 3hrs 43 mins and 45 secs, not bad but it would have been better had I finished under 3hrs 30mins as Mr Jim Patel pointed out immediately after I had finished (thanks Dad :))
I really enjoyed the occasion and know that if it were not for all the support/ generosity from friends and family that I would not have made it.
As you can see, the total amount raised exceeded my expectations and until the next time (I'm afraid there is always one more race to run), I'll try my best not to sit still. As they say Procrastination, like all Polysyllables, is the real thief of time :)
I would now like to say a few words about my coaches for getting me in shape. Firstly I would like to thank My fitness coach and wife Megan. If it were not for your drive and encouragement I would have happily stayed in after the late nights spent at work to enjoy yet another episode of 'House'.
Also to my nutritionist and mental coach Caroline aka Carrots, thanks for getting me to eat the right foods and for constantly telling me that I have what it takes to make it.
Finally I would like to thank Harold Abrahams aka Franks, you are my inspiration and running this race brought back memories of Dunlop Park.
We were never contenders for we were the real thing.
I will forever run with hope in my heart and wings on my heels
A. Montague
Thanks
