At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have always had great sympathy for people suffering from all aspects of dementia and a few years back I trained as a Dementia Buddy and volunteered at the local hospital to keep patients company who were having treatment for other things but because of dementia would be frightened and scared in a hospital scenario and appreciated company and a distraction.

In a cruel twist of fate last year my own lovely Nanny Violet Hewitt was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and due to my grandad having a mental breakdown my nan could no longer remain in her house alone and had to move into a care home as her Alzheimer’s hit her so fast she was a danger to herself alone and needed full time care. Sadly she had a fall 4 months after moving into the home and broke her hip and never recovered from this and so we lost our dear Nan on April 2nd (Easter Monday) in her sleep.

She was the kindest, funniest most caring person I have ever met and was loved by all. I don’t want her memory to ever die and I want to honour her for the rest of my life.

This event is one of my ways of doing that.

I am inviting you to come along on Sunday the 8th of July to our house, 1:30pm to donate £10 a person, which will get you unlimited tea’s, a glass of Prosecco and as much cake as you can eat until they are all gone.

Let’s raise this money to help the Alzheimer’s Society continue their fabulous work so that others won’t suffer from this terrible disease in the future
