Story
Many of you will know that we unexpectedly lost our son James last summer.
To remember James and to hopefully raise a bit of cash for our chosen charity we had planned for a group of family and friends to complete the UK National 3 Peaks challenge this summer. James always wanted to visit Scotland and climb Ben Nevis, so we thought this was a fitting challenge.
Given the current situation this is looking very unlikely now so instead I have decided to do a slightly different 3-peak challenge on a static bike in my garage.
I will be virtually visiting 3 iconic mountain climbs across Europe totalling 50miles (80km) and 12,000 feet (3500m) of climbing using a virtual cycling app called RGTcycling which accurately replicates all that wonderful gradient.
-Passo dello Stelvio in Italy, the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps and the second highest in the Alps
-Cap Formentor in Mallorca Spain, could be considered easy compared to the other two but doing the route in both directions makes this a worthy challenge.
I plan to complete all three climbs on Monday the 4th May and will be providing regular updates on progress here and plan to livestream some of the ride on Facebook.
For those who knew James his first love was music, so our chosen charity is Jessie’s Fund, if you can donate that would be great, if you can message your support that would also be appreciated.
