On Friday 17th September 2010, my parents and I braced ourselves for an extraordinary challenge for '
Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres'. It was a 20-mile hike across the streets of London. About 2,000 people participated including some of my Dad's colleagues. The hike began at
8.15 p.m. from the Guildhall Yard, City of London after which we stopped at the Channel 4 building in Westminster. The half-way point was the Maggie's Centre in Fulham where Mum and I received a pleasurable 10-minutes foot massage. Then we continued along Kensington High Street reaching Royal Society of Medicine in Wimpole Street (15.2 miles). The final stretch took us past Horse Guards and Holborn High back to Guildhall which we reached at
4.10 am. This was my first ever experience of London in the night and what an exciting city it appeared.
I found the hike tedious yet exhilarating. The fact that I was helping out for such a good cause helped to keep me motivated. The first 10 miles were fairly straightforward, but in the next 10 miles, I found myself getting tired easily and at times becoming restless. What a relief to finish walking after 8 hours!
I appeal to you to help me raise funds for Maggie's Charity. The charity is for everyone in the UK who is affected by cancer and aims to provide them access to high quality care. One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. They could be our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers and friends. By helping us to raise money for Maggie's, you could be helping several such people to improve their lives whilst facing cancer.
Every £25 donation will provide: a relaxation therapist for an hour; £50 would provide one place on a 'Caring for Someone with Cancer' or 'Living with Cancer' course; £300 would provide for a nutrition advisor for one month.

Thank you for taking time to read this and I hope you will consider donating to such a noble cause.
