Eat, have fun, raise vital funds for our work
Approaching our 100th anniversary working for peace, we’re raising funds and we need your help.
As many of you know, The Women's International League for Peace and Freedom works across the world to study and make known the root causes of war and conflict. It brings women together from different backgrounds and traditions to explore and lobby for non-violent alternatives to resolving conflict.
WILPF turns 100 in April 2015. We're staging an international peace conference in The Hague where a century ago women came from around the world to demand an end to WW1. Although they didn't succeed they went on to form the longest serving international women's organisation with peace as its focus.
We're still here, still influencing on and working for economic, social and environmental justice, conflict prevention and peace building, disarmament, human rights and making the connections across all these issues - across the world, every day and with the same commitment and determination of those pioneering women in 1915!
We're asking you to help us to:
- enable as many workshops and seminars as possible to run at the Conference in April in The Hague
- help as many as possible to attend by supporting the travel costs of those unable to afford them and to bring experts and inspirational speakers to the event which will be the largest international women's peace conference for a century and a focus for a different way of thinking about war and its consequences
Here's how you can help in one of two ways:
1. If you can, come and eat with us in Leicester - it costs £15 for an 'all you can eat buffet' and the generous restaurant owner will donate a whopping £9 of each ticket to WILPF. You can book your ticket here: https://leicesterwilpfcurry.eventbrite.co.uk
2. Or, if it's not your thing or you cannot get to Leicester (this is going far and wide), you can simply donate £5 or whatever you can afford and be a 'virtual' guest for the evening.
