Rowans Hospice provides end of life care across South East Hampshire. We help improve quality of life for the patient around the clock. We receive a very small level of Government support and almost all of the money required to provide our services needs to be raised through voluntary giving.

Story

Sunday the 29th of May saw the long awaited clash between the Hampshire cup winning dream team of 1997 Vs the current WPM team determined to show the old boys that their boots should have stayed in the garage.

.

With Josh Carlisle as our lucky Mascot the old boys team dropped its average age to 45 and prior to the coin toss he was presented his medal by the starting captain Darren Bowers.

The game itself was closely contested in front of a large and vocal crowd of supporters. The final score a very respectable 3-3 draw, in spite of Darren Bowers missing what could have been a winning penalty shortly before he limped off to hospital....good effort Da (at least on the injury).

.

A penalty shoot was used to decide the eventual winners, and despite the old boys skying a few, Phil Harty kept us in the game and after 5 each the score was still level. Sudden death...it was a fitting finale to a superb day that on the 8th penalty Matt Bennett stepped up and slotted the winner, bootless no less!

.

I personally would like to thank everyone involved in the day with a special mention going to :-

Gosport F.C and their chairman Paul Clark who kindly donated the pitch at such short notice.

The Darren Lowery the referee who did a great job and added to the atmosphere of the day.

The WPM club – who after at least a 10 year absence made us all so welcome.

The Current WPM team for turning up to support the charity and for putting 2 whippets up front !

The old boys - for rolling back the years one last time.

Leanne, Dawn and Jen for sorting the raffle out.

The donators, despite it being a fun day it was at heart a charity event. The final numbers for the money raised are £984:32 on the day! Taking the total raised to £1500 (not including the gift aid !!!).

Finally Matty B and Sam, inspiration to us all.

Thank you so very much everyone for your generosity!
