This year I will be embarking on a six month sabbatical which will be spent sailing on a 70ft clipper boat as part of the Clipper Round the World race. 

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race is one of the biggest challenges of the natural world and an endurance test like no other. At 40,000 nautical miles long, it is the biggest ocean race for non-professional sailors (of which I am one!): twelve teams compete against each other and nature’s toughest conditions, in a challenge which crosses six continents and will last almost twelve months - I will be doing 6 months of it!

The Clipper Race is a long-standing sponsor of UNICEF, and its international crew members are committed to raising vital funds for the organisation.

Unicef works to help the most vulnerable children across the globe, and the charity is one of the largest organisations of its kind. Too many children today are caught in life threatening conflicts, which puts them, their families, their immediate and their long-term future in danger. Currently, UNICEF works in 190 countries and provides 80% of emergency food to famine stricken areas. UNICEF also keeps children safe with vaccination, access to clean water, and shelter from violence.

I'm super excited about the challenge coming up for me onboard the Clipper Race. It is an out of the ordinary experience and a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness about the invaluable work of Unicef. 

With that in mind, I am fundraising to support the charity's work. Every child matters and no donation is too small.
