Our charity funds resources, over and above what the NHS has to do. Improving healthcare for local patients, by funding innovation & research; development & wellbeing support for Trust staff; extra equipment; improvements to the hospital environment & the provision of resources to support patients

Story

I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in 2016 and  I decided to climb another one of the Seven Summits this year.
Mount Elbrus is the highest mountain in Russia and in Europe, and the tenth most prominent peak in the world. A dormant volcano, Elbrus is in the Caucasus Mountains in Southern Russia, near the border with Georgia.

The Thoracic surgery department provides lifesaving surgery to a population of approaching 1.5 million in East Anglia. Surgical procedures are done to diagnose and treat lung, pleural and tracheal cancers, stenting and laser procedures as well as benign chest conditions

If lung cancer is picked up early and operated then survival of 5 years is good!!    It can be treated
with keyhole surgery so recovery can be quick. In fact more than 70% of our patients have keyhole surgery, one of the highest rates in the country.

The department helping with the diagnosing of chronic lung conditions helps patients get the most effective medical treatment ASAP and greatly aids quality of life.

And the department can also improve teenager’s psychological
and physical treatment by correcting chest deformities and aiding their
transition to adulthood.
