Story
As many of you know my twin Andrew has been in treatment for cancer (specifically acute lymphoblastic lymphoma) for the past year, and the Beatson charity has been a constant presence in his progress. It's been a hard time for our family, and I'm so proud of how strong he's been throughout his treatment. It's honesty been the scariest time of my life and I have such immense respect for all of the doctors and nurses working at the Beatson. To show our gratitude to the Beatson and my pride in him, we're going to begin fundraising for a 10k run for the "off the beatson track" event in Glasgow this August! (Poignantly the day before before our 19th birthday) It would be amazing if as many people as possible signed up or donated to the cause. The charity is truly amazing and has truly lifted my brother and so many other lives. From the day he was diagnosed to now I have always been struck by the professionalism and care he's been under, and without brilliant charity's like this one its scary to think where we'd be.
We've all had a year of uni, school, work or college to be out enjoying ourselves, but consider for a moment spending a year in constant treatment, in and out of hospital with complications and at times extreme pain and worry, whilst your friends are all out enjoying being students. His treatment over all lasts for three years so it's by no means over just yet, so take one afternoon out and donate or join us for all the people like Andrew who deserve to be cured and live very long happy lives 💛
Please share this and spread the word! One day cancer will be beaten and events like these are an encouraging part of it 💛
