Story

Thank you for kindly taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

When a good friend has been diagnosed with cancer, there are options to either cry with her or do something to support her fight with cancer mentally as well as physically, and I chose to fight together with her. I always thought that cancer is more likely when you are older, but she is still young...not yet married, not yet a mum, still waiting for her prince charming and wants to travel the world. She is an optimist who loves food but eats healthy, loves walking and is always thoughtful enough to do little things for others to show that she cares. Cancer does not run in her family, she doesn't smoke and hardly ever drinks alcohol. How could it have happened? Baffled...but we need to continue laughing together as we used to and believe there will be a better tomorrow, because there will be. It is an ongoing fight that we need to fight together....this is for you WN; know that you are not alone and we are walking with you every step of the way!

She inspired this fundraising challenge....to create a different style everyday from 23rd to 25th July, even if it means an early 5am wake-up to get ready. Going to the office in a bizarre fashion....perhaps even wearing a Qipao or Cheongsam dress with a vintage hairstyle? Let me know your ideas on what style you would like to see me wear, and follow my 3 day style challenge here on Just Giving or my Facebook page. Here's my fundraising target-post:

*Reaching £60 = I will be wearing the Cheongsam (Qipao) on all 3 days of the style challenge!

**Reaching £90 = I will make my very first VIDEO Tutorial on a vintage hairstyle (voted by you)!

***Reaching my full target £108 = I will be doing the night half marathon "Shine Walk" in September 2014 wearing a Cheongsam (Qipao) dress and vintage hairstyle!

Please donate! [You can also text  LKYW87 £1  to 70070 to donate £1 if you are in the UK]

Why this charity?  Whilst I believe cancer research is important, I also believe the impact of this illness goes beyond and into the sufferer's daily life. Simple things that we might take for granted from having hair to going out and family members being able to go to work. Cancer is changing and we are a society living with cancer. This charity can help deal with it....more than 2 million sufferers will tell you how difficult an ongoing battle like cancer is. My target of £108 might not seem a lot, but it will at least pay for a Macmillan nurse to help families affected by cancer for more than 4 hours.

Macmillan Cancer Support's "Shave or Style" campaign is only the first step, if I am able to raise enough funds to reach my £108 target then I will join the "Shine Walk" in September 2014 to walk a half marathon through the night....in a vintage hairstyle and a Cheongsam (Qipao) dress! So please, please, please donate (however much you can or want) to help me get there!

With a million of thank you(s),

May (and our loving group of friends....) x
