Story
On the 31st August we lost our precious boy Lee McGovern. It has been an extremely painful year for me and all of his family and friends.
As you can see Lee was a very handsome boy. However, his beauty wasn't skin deep. Lee was very smart, hilarious and was always going out of his way to help those less fortunate. He loved being outdoors, walking and especially fishing. He was a very positive and driven person and had the biggest heart of anyone I have met. Like many of us Lee struggled with his mental health. He went years being misdiagnosed and untreated, pushed from pillar to post. He was such a strong person and although he has left a trail of broken hearts, I am sure we can all say it was a privilege to have him in our lives and we love and miss him dearly.
As a result we thought it would be a brilliant idea to get outdoors and into the fresh air and do something positive. We are doing a sponsored walk up Ben Lomond on the 27th of August in his memory. Taking about 6-7 hours in total. We will walk and sing and talk and remember Lee for the amazing inspiring person he was.
The goal is to raise awareness of mental health and suicide. The reality is that even when you want help sometimes the services just aren't available and not enough is being done to tackle mental health and help those in crisis. Anyone can fall victim to mental health issues, noone is immune. It is not a weakness - it is Life. Anything you can give will go to the Scottish Mental Health Association in Lee's memory.
Much love from Verity and all of the McGoverns.x
