Story
My cousin Ava was diagnosed with Batten's disease a year ago at the age of 10. In a year, she can no longer walk, talk, and has recently had a feeding tube fitted. She also suffers from seizures and has a short life expectancy. Ava is a happy little girl despite everything she is going through and is now starting to suffer from memory loss. Children with Battens end up with some sort of dementia and eventually lose their eyesight. Children diagnosed with this awful disease don't live beyond their teenage years. This disease is extremely rare and there is currently only 104 diagnosed in the UK. By donating to BDFA you will help fund families get the care and support they need.
