Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The Steve Burne Charitable Trust was set up by Steve himself
when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Steve was my wife’s cousin who sadly lost his battle with cancer at the
age of 48.
The aim of the Trust is to continue to keep his legacy alive by raising money and supporting charities he held close to his heart. The main one being The Ronald McDonald House which is situated next door to The Manchester Children’s Hospital. This House keeps families together during what can be critical times, something Steve felt very strongly about. He tirelessly drove a campaign to create 5 family rooms at The House rooms by raising over £400,000 in his last year of life whilst undergoing gruelling treatment himself. Aptly these rooms have been named The Steve Burne Rooms and thankfully he got to see these rooms open and being used before he passed away.
While I do run often I only tend to run short distances and don’t normally enter races. My one & only race being a 5k (3.1m) so this jump up to half marathon (13.1m) is a big one for me, both physically and mentally hence the reason I wanted it to mean something and do it for something very close to mine & my families hearts like The Steve Burne Charitable Trust.
