Story
Sa'ad ibn Ubadah radiyAllahu ‘anhu asked the Prophet Muhammad salAllaahu alayhi wa sallam, ‘Umm Sa'ad (his mother) has died; what form of Sadaqah (charity) is best?’ He salAllaahu alayhi wa sallam replied, ‘Water (is best).’ Sa'ad dug a well and said, ‘It is for Umm Sa'ad.’ (Abi Dawud).
Our Dig-a-Wells are situated in communal places such as mosques, schools or village centres and serve large groups of people. These are bigger installations and each well serves over 25 families and their livestock.
The wells have mechanical hand pumps and draw water from up to 35 metres underground making them dependable during all seasons.
Where are the wells built?
We will build your Dig-a-Well where it is most appropriate and beneficial. Some common locations include: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Mali, Niger and India-administered Kashmir.
